Kidepo lies in the far north-east against the South Sudan and Kenya borders — a 1,442 square kilometre wilderness of open savanna, rocky inselbergs and seasonal rivers. It is remote, thinly visited and, for many who make the journey, the best park in Uganda.
The Narus Valley holds permanent water and therefore most of the wildlife: elephant, buffalo, zebra, eland, jackal, cheetah and lion. In the northern Kidepo Valley, dry riverbeds run between mountains and the only footprints are often your own.
