Murchison Falls National Park covers 3,840 square kilometres of savanna, riverine forest and papyrus swamp, split by the Victoria Nile. The river squeezes through a seven metre gap in the Rift Valley escarpment before plunging 45 metres — Murchison Falls, the most dramatic sight on the entire Nile.
North of the river, the Buligi game tracks deliver lion, leopard, giraffe and great herds of Uganda kob and buffalo. Downstream, the Nile Delta is one of Africa’s great birding spots and the best place in Uganda to see the prehistoric shoebill stork.
