What a 10-Day Uganda Grand Circuit Really Feels Like

We asked our lead guide, Herbert, to write honest field notes from a recent Grand Circuit departure.

Day 2 — Murchison Falls

The Buligi tracks are the best game drive in Uganda, full stop. In one morning: lions on a kill, 40+ giraffes, and a leopard crossing the road at spitting distance.

Day 8 — the gorillas

No matter how many times I do this, the hour with the family never gets ordinary. This group had a 2-day-old infant. The mother placed it on the bamboo in front of us and just… sat. Nobody spoke. It is the quietest hour on the whole itinerary.

Practical notes

Pack a neck pillow for the long days. The drives are part of the safari — buy the roadside roasted bananas, stop at the crater lakes, and never skip the Equator line silly photo.
