Kalika Safaris started in 2014 with one vehicle, one guide and a stubborn belief that Ugandans should run Uganda’s best safari company. A decade later we are still Ugandan-owned, still small enough that the founder answers the phone, and still sending travellers into the forest with guides who grew up on its edge.

What we believe

• Local first. We employ Ugandan guides, use Ugandan-owned lodges where we can, and put money back into the parishes around the parks.
• Honest pricing. Every permit, fee and meal is listed before you pay a deposit. No surprise charges at the end.
• Small groups. A maximum of eight in a vehicle, because that is the number a guide can genuinely look after.
• Conservation that works. Two percent of every booking goes to community conservation projects around Bwindi and Kibale.
