The Rwenzori is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the third-highest mountain range in Africa — a 120 kilometre wall of rock, ice, giant heather and lobelia on the Uganda–DRC border. Margherita Peak on Mount Stanley is the highest point at 5,109 metres.
Treks range from one-day nature walks in the foothills to the seven to nine day Central Circuit. The Bakonzo communities around the park share rich folklore about the mountains, and cultural walks are easy to arrange.
