Kibale Forest National Park boasts the highest number of primate species in the world, including the chimpanzees. Approximately 5,000 chimpanzees live in the wild in Uganda, which makes it a perfect place to spot them!

An experienced ranger will take you chimp tracking in the morning; you might also see other monkey species that live here. Once you locate the chimpanzees you will have a full hour of eye-to-eye contact with them. Since they are wild animals, we can never guarantee you to see them and might have to settle with hearing their hoots and hollers.

After lunch,

Your swamp walk (2-3 hours) will take you through grassland, small communities and some beautiful scenery, where the locals are likely to greet you with enthusiastic waves. It is usual to spot three to four different primate species during this walk, though the highlight is catching a glimpse of the great blue turaco!

Day 15: Queen Elizabeth – Boat cruise

In the morning, after your breakfast, you will then continue your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Queen Elizabeth is Uganda’s second largest park, located at the base of the majestic Rwenzori Mountain range, adjacent to Lake Edward and Lake George. The park has prolific game, including gazelle, Uganda kob, warthog and waterbuck. Lions are often sighted both in and at the entrance to the park. Be prepared for huge numbers of hippo and elephant, and keep your eyes peeled for a leopard lazing in the sunshine.

In the afternoon you will take a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel which joins Lake George and Lake Albert.

Here, you will see a lot of hippos (more than you can possibly imagine!), as well as a variety of other animals which come to the waterhole to drink or bathe. You can expect to see buffalo, crocodile, bathing elephant, and a range of beautiful birds. This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your tour.

After the boat-safari you game drive back to the lodge.

Day 16: Game drive – Katwe

Today you wake up early. A little before sunrise, breakfast will be served in the restaurant before we head out with packed lunch for a long game drive in time to see the first rays of light. You will search for all the wildlife in the park and are likely to come across Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Waterbuck, Leopard, Uganda Kob, and many Warthogs.

We will visit Lake Katwe also known as the salt late, interact with the local communities, visit a women’s community group, you can support their efforts by purchasing a souvenir. We will then game drive back to the lodge.

Day 17: Transfer to Kampala or airport

After your breakfast, your driver/ guide will drive back to Kampala or Entebbe (Airport)

Accommodation for tonight is not inclusive in the program. If you wish to depart tonight from Entebbe Airport, make sure your flight is at 10 pm or later.
Try to get the car 1 or 2 days before the trip starts ( if possible) and test it.

Make sure you wear your confidence Tours shirt

Be clean, shaved and smell good

Be at least 10 minutes before the time at the-location where you meet your clients

The car must always be checked properly before each trip! Make sure this is done. Check if everything that is written on the car report by the previous driver of this car is fixed!

Make sure your transport is in good order, fueled and clean! Check as well if insurance is still valid!

Check if seat belts are there and working.

Help your clients with the luggage

Introduce yourself properly; meaning: shake hands, tell them your name, ask for their names and memorize them, welcome them to Uganda, tell them what you are doing next, ask them if they need to withdraw money or exchange money, tell them you will brief them on arrival at the first lodge and ask them if they have any questions. As well make sure you show confidence; they rely on you this trip!

Make sure you give a good briefing and make good appointments for the next day. Give them your phone number + welcome gift and always keep your phone switched on and make sure you have airtime!

During the trip:

Be always clean, smell well.

be pre-active. Ask them regularly if everything is fine and if there is any special request

Make sure you have enough stop over’s on transfer days for people to stretch their legs, eat something, smoke or drink

Make sure you stop on the way when there is something interesting to see on the way.

This can be a monkey in the tree, the long horn cows, a nice village, school children, a market, a fruit shop, a rare bird or simply a nice view point. This will add to the experience of the clients and most likely be paid back in your tip!

Check your car every evening after arrival and in the morning again before departure. Start in time! Check water and oil in the morning, when engine is cold.

Check radiator regularly, when it is dirty look for a place where they have air pressure.

If there is any problem with the car you fix it as soon as possible.

Make sure you wash your car at least every 2 days if possible

Only fuel up at decent fuel stations like Shell, Total

Don’t forget to bring your driving permit

Bring a copy of the logbook on every tour. Don’t forget to bring the original logbook of the car when you go to Rwanda or Tanzania

Never over speed. People like to see the country as well on transfer days. Drive slowly

and never faster than 100 km an hour on the high way

All traffic fines will be paid by you.

Make sure you are always in time!

Give correct information to your clients about travel distance. Don’t make it look better then it is. It’s better to arrive 1 hour earlier than 1 hour later than planned!

Make sure you Sure your knowledge with your clients. Tell them about your culture and tell them about the plants, monkeys, animals and birds that you know.

Bring books about wildlife, birds and vegetation. Use the pictures and info to inform clients. Books are airways available at confidenceTours. If you want to have your own books (recommendable) confidenceTours will pay half.

Inform clients well about the activities they are going to do. Tell them about what they can expect to see or experience, tell them how long it will take and what clothes they should wear. Make sure you confirm all activities and never leave before they are effect on the activity!

Inform clients well about the accommodation they are going to stay in. If it’s simple you tell them it is simple and don’t make it look better then it is. Inform them about the food and service they can expect and tell them about the toilet and shower (is it clean, is the shower warm?)

Make sure you always call the accommodations in advance to confirm your booking. We have given you airtime, so use it well!

Help checking in your clients. Never leave before you know everything is fine and make sure that both you and your clients know the program for tomorrow!

Be nice and friendly to the staff of the accommodation. If there is a problem you solve it without your clients being part of it.

When clients are sick or there is a emergency situation you directly contact confidence Tours

Never make any phone calls when driving. If it’s important you stop the car and make the phone call before you continue. Keep it as short as possible, as you don’t want your clients to wait for you. It’s advisable to make the phone call when you make a lunch stop or any other stop that is interesting for your clients.

Don’t make unnecessary calls, as this is disturbing to your clients

Make sure you always bring a ranger on your game drives. Both confidenceTours and you know that not all of them are good and sometimes a bit lazy, but the clients will blame you and Confidence Tours when they have not spotted a lion on a game drive. When there is a ranger together with you, you have 4 eyes instead of 2 and more important is that we are covered for any blame when a game drive is not successful

Inform clients about expected tips before they go on any activity. As much as a tip is important for you it’s as well for other guides, rangers or any staff working in tourism.

Inform clients about where and when they can change or withdraw money, as they need to plan this ahead.

Make sure you do everything in your power to create an open, warm and professional atmosphere between you and the clients. Show them the Ugandan hospitality

Make sure you get receipts for EVERYTHING you spend. No receipt is a fine of half the money that is spent.

When you (the guide) get sick during the tour you contact us immediately so we can arrange back up in time.

Help clients remember to use mosquito repellent, Anti-Malaria tablets, wash their hands, not drink from the tabs and wear long sleeves and pants after 7.00 p.m., to prevent they get sick.

When clients get sick, do a check up in nearest hospital. When they are longer than 8 days in the country, check always for malaria.

Make sure clients never leave luggage in the car when nobody is inside. During lunch on transfer days you ask them to bring their valuables and you make sure that someone is guarding the car.

Sometimes clients bring too much luggage or even hard cover suitcases. If they do, let them know in a friendly way that we are not responsible for any damage on suitcases or lag of space in the car. Any complain wil not be taken serious. confidence tours states very clear in every proposal that they can bring luggage of 15 – 20 kg in a bag of soft material

When clients have a valid complain try to see if you can fix it or make it up with them. If you think you can’t manage or if making up involves extra costs, we want you to contact confidence Tours. Always take a complaint serious and fix it before it’s too late. Make sure as well you don’t make any excuses when a complaint is not the responsibility of you or Confidence Tours. Do make sure you are always understanding and helpful

At the end of the trip:

Make sure you keep being pro active, even on the last day, even if you already received your tip.

Ask them if the trip was what they have expected and if there is anything that will help confidenceTours to improve

Say goodbye and ask them to fill in the feedback form

Help them with checking in and don’t leave before you are sure they are checked in.

After the trip:

Write a car report, bring the car to the workshop and give the car report to the mechanic. Anything serious? Let Confidence Tours know!

Bring the car back with a quarter tank!!!!

Finalize your calculation and bring you calculation, receipts, extra money, balance and feedback forms to the clients back to the office. This must be the same day as you end the tour or latest 1 day after. Every day that you are late you will be fined with 5. 000 UGX. As well every missing receipt is fined with half the amount of the money that should be on the receipt.

Check the program, so you know when your next tour is. Get some rest and make sure you are fit for your next tour.

Try to keep on learning. If you have a lot of time between tours we advise you to read books or do an extra course with UWA ( ask confidenceTours to pay, they will if they think that the course will benefit the organization). The more you know, the better guide you will become and the more work you wi!! get!

Never Ever to do!!!!

Drink and drive

Be hanged over and drive Have sex with your clients

Over speed

Be rude or aggressive to clients or partners in tourism

Violating any of the above points will result in ending your contract immediately!

The indigenous Karamojong have maintained their traditions and their remote living have sheltered them from the wind of globalization thus presenting an authentic touch of an African culture. You will explore their way of life, their religions, family bonds, marriage practices, architecture and other cultural aspects that are worth understanding. You retreat from the encounter and transfer back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight

Day 8: Kidepo – Murchison Falls

Today’s journey is scenic, filled with amazing landscapes, vast open land with mountain back drops and endless skylines enroute to Pakwatch.
DAY 9; Murchison Falls National Park

You will need to rise for breakfast and an early start on your game drive while the animals are the most active.

A drive through the park brings you eye-to-eye with the African animal kingdom: elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, different species of antelope and many tropical birds. They are all there!

Covering an area of 3,840 km², Murchison Falls National Park is the largest conservation area in Uganda. The park’s name derives from its famous waterfall; the mighty Murchison Falls!

In the afternoon you will make a boat safari up the Nile River to Murchison Falls. Carefully watched by crocodiles, hundreds of hippos, buffaloes, water birds, monkeys and all the other thirsty wildlife that the Nile attracts, you will reach the base of the 43-meter high Falls which approaches you with a thunderous sound.

Upon arriving at the base of the falls you will have the option (not inclusive) of taking a tough hike (about 50 minutes) to the top, from where you have a perfect view of the impressive falls.

DAY 10; Murchison Falls – Kibale National Park

After an early breakfast, you will pick up your packed lunch and exit the park to the south. The drive is long, but incredibly scenic, passing through villages, lush green forests and hills dotted with tea plantations which characterize this part of Uganda.

DAY 11; Kibale National Park

Kibale Forest National Park boasts the highest number of primate species in the world, including our delightful cousins, the chimpanzees. Today, in Uganda, there are approximately 5,000 chimpanzees in the wild, which makes it a perfect place to spot them!

An experienced forest ranger will take you chimp tracking in the morning or afternoon. En route you might also see other monkey species that live in this forest. Once located, you will spend a full hour with the chimps. Since they are wild animals we can never guarantee that you will see them. You might have to settle with hearing their hoots and hollers.

Your swamp walk (2-3 hours) will take you through grassland, small communities and some beautiful scenery, where the locals are likely to greet you with enthusiastic waves. It is usual to spot three to four different primate species during this walk, though the highlight is catching a glimpse of the great blue turaco!

DAY 12; Kibale National Park – Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast you will continue your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Queen Elizabeth is Uganda’s second largest park, located at the base of the majestic Rwenzori Mountain range, adjacent to Lake Edward and Lake George.

In the afternoon, you will take a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel which joins Lake George and Lake Albert.

Here, you will see a lot of hippos (more than you can possibly imagine!), as well as a variety of other animals which come to the water to drink or bathe. You can expect to see buffalo, crocodile, bathing elephant, and a range of beautiful birds. This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of your tour.

DAY 13; Queen Elizabeth National Park

This morning you wake up early. A little before sunrise coffee, tea and donuts will be served in the lounge before we head out for a long game drive in time to see the first rays of light. You will search for all the wildlife in the park and are likely to come across Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Waterbuck, Leopard, Uganda Kob, and many Warthogs.

In the afternoon, you will visit a local community surrounding the National park, their main source of income is harvesting salt from a lake called Katwe. Spend time with them, learn about their ways of life. In the evening, game drive back to your hotel.

DAY 14; Ishasha

After breakfast, with your packed lunch – you will proceed to the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, to an area called Ishasha. If you are lucky you might spot a few during your game drive.

To escape from the heat during the day, the lions here have learned how to climb the fig trees. If you are lucky you might spot a few during your game drive, so keep your eyes open and look up! Besides these famous lions, there is other interesting wildlife to be seen, like buffalo and the Uganda kob.

Return to your lodge for the night.

DAY 15; Ishasha – Bwindi

This morning wake up at leisure, take a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National park, sandwiched between the rift valley, the mountain ranges of the Rwenzoris, savannah grasslands and afro- montane forest; imagine the views!

DAY 16; Bwindi National Park

Today is the big day… prepare yourself for an encounter with one of Bwindi’s gentle giants: the endangered mountain gorilla. For most people this is the absolute highlight of their tour in Uganda.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest boasts both mountain gorillas and chimpanzees – the only forest in Africa which can make this claim. It also hosts five other species of primate, 113 species of mammal, over 200 butterflies and 360 birds. The gorillas you track belong to one of nine habituated family groups who can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day.

Your track will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes and bamboo before you eventually reach the gorilla family.

The time taken to track the Gorillas can be as few as 2 hours to as many as 7 hours. Once the Gorillas have been located, your group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a truly humbling and emotional experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Uganda’s very own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’.

DAY 17; Batwa

This is the cultural highlight of the tour. After an early morning breakfast, you will set off for the Batwa heritage trail a full day activity that takes you through the forests of Mgahinga in the company of the indigenous Batwa guides as they interpret every forest landscape and what it mean to their traditional life. The forest provided a natural shelter that always provided a refugee for the Batwa in times of danger. You learn their wild honey harvesting means, the traditional medical plants, the tree houses, the hunting techniques, the edible roots and plants before arriving at Garama Cave which was the central place for their converging while still in the forest.. You will listen to the sorrowful songs being sung by the Batwa women taking you through the course of their tradition; it is a moment of wonder and deep exploration into the Batwa culture that is at stake of fading away.

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight

DAY 18; Bwindi – Lake Bunyonyi

Wake up at leisure, We shall then bid farewell to the impenetrable forest and head off to Lake Bunyonyi. Bunyonyi means “small birds” in the local language and is therefore Lake Bunyonyi is a must visit for birders. We shall take it easy at the shores of this beautiful lake. Activities available during our stay include; birding, cycling, sunbathing, and canoeing amongst others.

DAY 19; Lake Bunyonyi

This day will be an activity free day, meaning that you can take on extra activities at your own cost or just relax at the hotel, while watching the serene environment around you.

DAY 20; Lake Bunyonyi – Kampala

Today after your breakfast, you will be transferred to Kampala, we will have multiple stops for photo taking moments including the equator, stand, dance, swing, between the two hemispheres, imagine that! We arrive in the later afternoon, check into your hotel for relaxation.

Day 21; Kampala city tour

After breakfast, we will go on a Kampala City tour and visit places of interest. Visit craft markets, historical places, religious places, and many more.

Day 22; Transfer to Airport

This is the end of what we hope has been a very fruitful trip. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight back home. We hope to see you, your friends and family soon.
