Day One: City Tour & Transfer to Volcanoes National ParkStart historical-minded exploration of Kigali city with visits to landmarks from colonial, post-independence, genocide and post-genocide times i.e. Kigali Solaire, Stade regionale, Kigali Genocide memorial site where over 259,000 genocide victims

were put to rest in mass graves, Dr. Richard Kandt Museum who was the first Germany explorer to settle in Kigali, Belgian camp where they killed the 10 Belgian UN soldiers who were protecting the moderate prime minister before the start of genocide etc. Transfer to Bugesera in the afternoon to visit the reconciliation village where the survivors of genocide live together in harmony with the perpetrators that killed their own families, Nyamata and Ntarama genocide churches where thousands of innocent people were butchered in the house of God.

Transfer to Musanze – Overnight: – Gorilla hotel

Day Two: Gorilla Trekking

Brief of the day: Early breakfast at 6am then transfer to the park at 6am for briefings and grouping. Option to visit Buhanga forest in the afternoon where all the Rwanda kings were initiated or Kinigi Cultural Village for traditional dances and music, bio-mimicry and traditional healing lessons.

Volcanoes National Park:

After breakfast we transfer to the park. After completing our park formalities, we are embark on a once in a life time experience of tracking mountain gorillas. Once you spot them you are allowed to spend an hour watching your closest long lost cousin. This is perhaps one of the most breathtaking wildlife experiences on earth!!! You get so close to these awesome giant primates. You stare at each other blankly not knowing who to break the long silence first. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience. Be back at the base in time for lunch! Some gorilla families however are more elusive and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. Transfer to Kigali.

During the 8 days Gorillas and chimps tour the tourist would start their safari adventure in Rwanda through the assistance of our expert guidance team from departure of Kigali by visiting the historical sites of the main roads Kamegeri’s rock. After breakfast to the next destination is the Nyungwe National Park for the chimps trekking. Other destinations serially visited by the tourist as Ruhengeri, Banana and Sorghum beer Production and farewell Kigali.

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe:

Depart from Kigali; en-route visit some historical sites on the main road like Kamegeri’s rock etc. Check in the hotel and refresh before you go for a late afternoon drive at the tea plantations to see some pri-mates. Overnight at Gisakura Guest house.

Day 2: NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK:

Early breakfast (4:45am); then drive to the chimp trekking point. After trekking, drive to Rusizi – check in and have lunch at the hotel. Some time to relax after trekking chimps.

Overnight at Hotel du Lac.

Day 3: KIBUYE: Transfer to Kibuye; visit

Napoleon’s hut and Amahoro “Peace” Islands – Enjoy fried Kivu fish and potatoes on the island plus some cold drinks of your choice. Swimming is optional to any interested member/guest. Overnight at Bethane Hotel.

Day 4: RUHENGERI:

Transfer to Ruhengeri.

En-route visit the twin lakes. Overnight at recommended hotel..

Day 5: VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK:

Early breakfast (5:30am); – start gorilla trekking procedures at 6:30am at the park headquarters. After gorilla trekking, refresh and drive to Kinigi cultural village to enjoy the Batwa dance. Overnight at recom-mended hotel.

Day 6: Banana and Sorghum beer production

Banana and sorghum are some of our staple Food products in Rwanda and they are used in different ways i.e.as food, local beer/drinks and very important in the cultural practices most especially during our traditional weddings ceremonies, settling of disputes between community members, bonding relationship between different families etc. Rwanda has four common species of banana plants and each species of banana plant has got unique uses and value. Practically, you will learn and understand while in the field. Sorghum production is quite complicated but made simple to experience and really a thrilling experience. Transfer to Gisenyi – check in the hotel. Drive around Gisenyi town as we head to Rubona fishing village to experience the lifestyle of fishermen and also watch the hot springs. Swimming is optional in the lake. Overnight at Parades Ma-lahide Hotel.

Day 7: FAREWELL – KIGALI:

Transfer to Kigali – enroute do shopping. Check Caplaki market for more souvenirs. Dinner at Republica restaurant.

Day 8: DEPART RWANDA:

Transfer to the airport and depart Rwanda.

Return to the entrance of the Park early this morning to see the Golden Monkeys. It is now believed the only feasible population of these Golden Monkeys resides only in Volcanoes National Park. They are beautiful and endangered primates which have become quite habituated to humans, making it possible to observe them closely. After lunch, transfer to Kigali.

Option Two of Day 3: Bisoke Mountain Climbing

Day One: Arrival at Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast proceed to climbing of Mt Bisoke. Climb Mount Bisoke for about 6hrs duration. On top there’s a Crater Lake and beautiful flora and fauna. You may get chance to see forest elephants and buffaloes as you climb or descent from the mountain

Drive to Gisenyi in the afternoon

Check in Parades Marahide hotel on arrival. Dinner and overnight
